As a part of our national program, Zetas Have Heart,  Omega Kappa Zeta kicked off our inaugural fitness event, Z-Fitness,  on Saturday, April 4th at Langston Hughes Academy in Stockton.

This FREE program began at 8:30 am with vendor tables including Sistahs Rock, Jenny Craig, and MUVZ Fitness.  There was also a blood pressure table and healthy snacks.

MUVZ Fitness lead us in a fun, high intensity workout that left everyone feeling great (and tired).

All participants were entered into raffle to win a beautiful gift basket filled with a variety of fitness items.

In addtional to fitness, we also collected donations for the March of Dimes and we also kicked off our #RoyalBlueforAutismAwareness campaign and every participant received a special blue ribbon to wear throughout the month.   Make sure you follow that hashtag all month long.

If you are interested in partnering with us in future events, please email us at stocktonzetas@gmail.com.

Chapter Response to Ferguson, MO Grand Jury Decision

11/26/2014

The Members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Omega Kappa Zeta Chapter are saddened and disappointed by the Grand Jury Decision not to indict the officer involved in the murder of Michael Brown of Ferguson, MO. We call for prayers and healing for his family.

Our hearts and prayers also go out to the communities Ferguson and beyond affected by the conditions that our children are consistently faced with. Far too many events mirror the policies and practices our elders fought against and hoped would be a distant memory.

And, like many other citizens of our communities, the Omega Kappa Zeta Chapter will continue to fight inequality and work towards social justice. We will do the research and work required to help fulfill the wishes of the Brown Family to have a camera on the law enforcement officers of the areas we represent.

In Solidarity,

Monika L Brooks, President
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated
Omega Kappa Zeta Chapter

On March 30, 2014 the ladies of Omega Kappa Zeta hosted our 2nd Annual Finer Womanhood Luncheon. The event was held at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Stockton, CA and included over 50 Sorors, guests, family members and friends. The delightful afternoon of fellowship included the thought provoking words of Dr. Masood Cajee of The Library & Literacy Foundation of San Joaquin, a wonderful meal, and fabulous prizes.

This year’s theme: “A Taste for Reading – Bringing about Literacy Awareness”, allowed our chapter to provide a  generous donation of books to the
New Greater Love Church for their community outreach reading event (book give away). The day concluded with pictures, laughter and promises of another great event.

We would like to extend special thank yous to  Dr. Masood Cajee for being an excellent keynote speaker; Norman Productions for the beautiful centerpieces; Mr. Desmond Rodgers for taking care of the media equipment and photographing the event; and Ruthie’s Creations and Melo’s Burgers of Stockton for their raffle gifts and book donations.
