Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. by five distinguished collegiate women. These five women chartered Zeta Phi Beta Sorority to encourage the highest standard of scholarship through scientific, literary, cultural and educational programs; promote service projects on college campuses and in the community; foster sisterhood
and exemplify the ideals of Finer Womanhood. The trail blazed by the founders has been traversed by thousands of women dedicated to the objectives and ideals of the Sorority. Since its inception, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has chronicled a number of "firsts" among the established historically African American sororities.
