On March 30, 2014 the ladies of Omega Kappa Zeta hosted our 2nd Annual Finer Womanhood Luncheon. The event was held at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Stockton, CA and included over 50 Sorors, guests, family members and friends. The delightful afternoon of fellowship included the thought provoking words of Dr. Masood Cajee of The Library & Literacy Foundation of San Joaquin, a wonderful meal, and fabulous prizes.

This year’s theme: “A Taste for Reading – Bringing about Literacy Awareness”, allowed our chapter to provide a  generous donation of books to the
New Greater Love Church for their community outreach reading event (book give away). The day concluded with pictures, laughter and promises of another great event.

We would like to extend special thank yous to  Dr. Masood Cajee for being an excellent keynote speaker; Norman Productions for the beautiful centerpieces; Mr. Desmond Rodgers for taking care of the media equipment and photographing the event; and Ruthie’s Creations and Melo’s Burgers of Stockton for their raffle gifts and book donations.

According to the CDC, 1 in 88 children are diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. Alarmingly, Black and Latino Boys and girls of all cultural backgrounds are diagnosed as many as 2 years later than other children. In a continuing effort to provide  Autism Awareness to underrepresented Areas. the Omega Kappa Zeta Chapter has joined with the Mocha Autism network to kick off the #RoyalBlueForAutismAwareness Campaign.

The primary goal of the campaign is to use the power of Social Media to bring about Awareness to communities that don't generally discuss Autism or Autism spectrum traits.  Participants will be asked to use their economic footprint to share information, resources and other encouraging words throughout April. there will also be other activities such as Twitter Chats and April 16th's picture day.

To participate in the #RoyalBlueForAutismAwareness Campaign, please register online or send us a note on our any of our contact pages. Let's show how fare our electronic footprint can spread!
