The ladies of Omega Kappa Zeta attended the San Francisco Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (SF NAACP) "Annual Freedom Fund Dinner and Gala" on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the Hilton Hotel in Union Square.
Celebrating it's 91st year in the San Francisco Bay Area, the NAACP chose the theme, "We Shall Not Be Moved until Justice Rolls Down Like A Mighty Stream!"
The SF NAACP honored individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the fight for freedom and justice for all. This year's honorees were: A. Phillips Randolph Institute, Dr. Willie and Mrs. Ratcliff of the Bayview newspaper, Rev. Cecil Williams, Belva Davis, Dr. Caesar Churchwell, Roberto Y. Hernandez , and Mohammed Nuru .
The Gala included a 3 course meal, keynote speaker: Tavis Smiley, and entertainment by Pete Escovedo. The NAACP put on a fabulous event to honor our local heroes and special thanks to our Soror Portia Osborne for serving on the Gala Committee.
